Running mate to Senator Ricky Muir

Aaron Mackley

Born, raised and educated in the industrious western suburbs of Melbourne, Aaron Mackley was your typical aussie kid, growing up playing footy, cricket and all the usual things that kids do. After completing secondary college, he moved into tertiary studies in the Sports Administration field. Once completing his studies Aaron worked part time in the fitness industry but filled his days in a sales and marketing role with large construction materials company. To this day, he is still working in a sales and business development role with constructions materials for large infrastructure projects.

A father of 2 young girls, and husband to a beautiful wife. Aaron's life at home is a very welcomed relief from the bump and grind of the cut throat business world. They recently moved out of the suburbs of Melbourne to a more regional property in the Macedon Ranges, just north of Melbourne.

But what keeps him busy when he's not wearing a suit and tie and hanging out with his family? Motorsport. Yep, he's a self confessed, bonafide Motoring Enthusiast. It all started back in the early 80's when his uncle would take him out to Calder Park to watch the drag racing, then moved into the circle track when his dad would take him out to the speedway to watch the sprint cars and the good old demo derby. Once he got his own licence he would drive his every day car out to Calder Park of a Friday night, pay his $50 to line up in the freezing cold, just to run a few 18 second 1/4 mile passes to get his fix of go-fast adrenaline. Until things got serious......

Aaron is not your average revhead. As well as competing in burnouts, he has been a burnout judge and an MC, spending plenty of time behind the microphone, announcing at all the big shows in the country and providing some incredibly entertaining listening along the way.

In recent times, Aaron has moved into creating and promoting his own events. He is the brains behind the World Championship of Team Burnouts - simply known as Tread Cemetery, and he has also created a fantastic burnout series for the grass roots competitors called #keepitoffthestreets. A just for fun based burnout competition with no prize money and trophies that are awarded to the people who are having the most fun. A great concept to give adrenalin hungry kids a safe place to do what they love without the fears of competing against the professionals.

So off the back of his passion for motorsport and the motoring enthusiast lifestyle, his ability to see situations from more than one angle, his drive to offer fair and equal opportunities, his sense of community and personal resposibility, Aaron has recently become part of the AMEP as the second candidate in Victoria, the running partner of Ricky Muir.
